Confessions of a 20-year-old exjournalist who talks too much, laughs too loudly and is eccentric too much for her own good. She is currently reading Law at the University of Warwick, but still spends all her time spilling too many secrets on her blog.

Whether they are true, exaggerated or fictitious, its up to you to decide. It could ALL be a pack of lies. Or not. The real girl (and secrets) shall remain elusive. Whatever it is, don't forget to bring along your pinch of salt.

Samanthaeng.blogspot was set up on 31st December 2007 in an attempt to move away from the air-headed musings of the writer's earlier journal. It started out as pretty pink journal like this one- which the writer quickly got bored of- went on to become a dull grey journal, and is now back to looking girlishly pink.

As you can see, the writer is highly fickle, volatile and undecisive. Which makes a lot of sense, since the original purpose of this journal (to spread the writer's ingenious musings to the world at large) has been squashed and replaced by a day-by-day account of a struggling student trying to become the next Legally Blonde 3.

Whoever said self-centeredness wasn't a sexy trait?

graduation glamour

a quick picture post on the seniors' graduation held on monday night. the event was quite fun, the awards were hilarious and everyone dressed up real pretty. strangely though, the intermission times and before-and-after event times seemed to revolve around massive camwhorage within the respective cohorts. hmmm.

#1: Jason the pimp. As usual. Hahaha, though now with the long(er) hair, he can blend in with us quite well (:

#2: Pengkun, cool as usual. I thought I was dressed really casually, but she beat me in the casualness department with her usual grunge jacket and jeans look! haha bet that costed you two more pounds though... ;)

#3: With Chloe, Huilin, Michelle and Pk. Chloe, your makeup that day was pretty! Hot stuff (:

#4: With Claire and Ian. Is it me or does Ian look shorter than Claire? Hmmmm.

#5: Good things come in pairs, right Huilin?

#6: Jerrick, attempting to be the pimp now...

#7: Good things come in pairs (shot two). Because we need two shots of everything!

#8: With Michelle and Huilin! (Mich you look very very fair! Did you or did you not just return from Singapore! haha)

Okay. Off to hit the notes again. No, I'm not singing, I'm talking about law notes. Sigh.

Singapore Day

headed down to london for singapore day over the weekend and in true blue red-and-white singapore fashion, the entire event was well-planned, well-executed and a complete blast.

also in true red-and-white singapore fashion, we:

1) kiasu-edly arrived an hour before the event started
2) rushed to the front of the queue
3) zeroed in to the goody bags redemption counter the minute the gates were open
4) devised a strategy of some people going to chope places while others run to bring back food
5) grinned widely at the mention of lucky draw
6) queued for food
7) queued for more food
8) went for the long queues because "long queue means must be good right?"
9) queued twice for the really good food
10) stuffed ourselves silly
11) then proceeded to go around getting free teeshirts

hahaha. just in case you thought that singapore day was just about the free food and teeshirts, it wasn't. not really. we had quite a lot of fun frolicking in the sun, with our picnic mats all spread out (yes, they even packed picnic mats in the goody bag for us!). loads of camwhorage, bumping into people, laughing, getting a tan and of course, being entertained by our very own local artistes. we had adrian pang, michelle chong, dimsum dollies, rui en, taufik, mr brown etc. i must say, singapore really did pull out all the stops for this one. okay you know what, i'll just let the pictures do the talking (:

#1: On the way to Singapore Day. We were so darn early, we had time to take photos on the way there instead of rushing for the food.

#2: I told you we were early. This is us being right in front of the massive queue. Hahaha, but ok i'm kidding. We weren't that early, just really lucky that a volunteer came to us and told us to form a new queue. Like I told yonglong, advantages of us being such good-lookers...

#3: If you can't bring a girl to the ERP, you bring the ERP to the girl. It even made a "beep" sound when we walked through. Check your wallets guys! You really thought this entire event was free-of-charge?

#4: Familiar nostalgic signs! No cycling, no durians, no littering. Oh Singapore, such a fine city (:

#5: Familiar road names! (though i don't remember any place called goodie bag collection in singapore.... hmm. must be new.)

#6: With Chloe while queueing for our first food of the day: Chilli Crab!

#7: Being entertained by the hilarious emcees. I found that I enjoyed all the performances and laughed extra hard. Maybe it was the familiar singlish/hokkien voices that tugged at the heartstrings.

#7: With ian as we queued up for a variety of food. We went for Katong Laksa TWICE.

#8: Yes Katong Laska. It was really good, the most awesome food of the day. SEE WHAT I MEAN ABOUT THE EAST HAVING GREAT FOOD.

#9: Picnic! Suntanning in the sun. Have I mentioned how I've turned a couple of shades darker? Well, my face that is. And the whole idea was to tan my legs that day... Sigh.

#10: Made friends with fellow Eastie, Eugene, and we uh, dragged him to queue up for Katong Laksa with us! This is a shot taken by our infamous lousy photographer keegan. You see he didn't count to three and I wasn't smiling.

#11: On the other hand, Eugene turned out to be a surprisingly fantastic camwhore! I never thought I would say this, but wow. That guy can be better than me.
#12: Look at what I spied! Our TK uniform! In its usual gorgeous green splendour! (: (: (: I think after this point was when Kelvin found me and we went to queue up for carrot cake. Om nom nom. No photos, because he is camera shy. Hahaha.

#13: Constance messaged me asking me to go find her and so I did. I think she only asked me to go to play with my hair. She calls me her barbie doll. I think, *sniffs, I think, she only likes me because of my hair! Hahaha okay I'm kidding. With Chloe and Constance! (why did you get shades without me!)

#14: Ended up settling down comfortably on the mat to watch the performances with pk. And attempted to get a tan as well (yeah it sure worked). Pk has cool transition glasses doesn't she?

#15: And finally, at the end of the day, bidding goodbye to the ERP and Singapore Day 2009.

The end (:

quotable quotes

friend: they should call it ALIVE line, deadline sounds so negative

me: you're right. it sounds so morbid. you know, for the longest time i thought deadline was spelt as dateline?

today, i finally know why they call it "deadline". the whole morbidness was part of the idea. i'm never making that spelling mistake again.

on another completely random note. i recieved an email today to inform me that i've got mail (snailmail, that is) waiting for me at the law reception. i skipped there happily (i love receiving mail), taking time off my essay to go all the way to the law school, only to find out that it was some 02 surprise package.

apparently i've "won" two free sim cards.

bravo. talking about bubble-bursting, unexciting "surprises".

excuse this fangirl moment

finally finished watching bbf, my meal-time companion for the holidays. well i only started on it because (a) i was bored during the holidays, (b) i needed something to watch to slow down my eating speed (why do we all eat so quickly when alone?) and (c) tseruey highly recommended it, especially since i was a huge mg fan and it would be nice to watch my favourite plot all over again.

oh and (d) gossip girl keeps having their little hiatuses, it's really annoying.

anyway, the verdict on bbf? well, it can't compare to mg which made me bawl my eyes out at the weepy parts and caused my heart to skip one too many beats whenever dms does something sweet for sc. bff was good, only because the eye-candies were delicious and setting of the show is absolutely gorgeous. i found myself rooting for yjh (the second lead) more than gjp (the main lead) which never, ever happened in mg (and really shouldn't happen at all). well, maybe because yjh is cute (:

still, bbf was good. especially loved the ending (better than mg), when gyp proposed. it makes my heart melt, i tell you. that gorgeous, gorgeous smile on gjp's face as he proposed. and the amazing backdrop. perfect ending (:

this is a completely useless post for non-bbf or mg fans. sorry, just had to get it out of my system. from now onwards, i'll have readings to accompany me for meal-times till the exams end. five weeks!

springtime sugar-rush

am currently stuck in what constance terms as an essay crisis. i'm feeling quite anxious and desperate, which explained my utmost frustration when i realised that every single table in the library was occupied (try walking up and down five floors searching and see if you don't get frustrated). sigh, welcome to the start of term.

on a more positive note though, the weather is awesome. people were lying on the grass, suntanning in their spag tops and shorts, whilst eating ice-cream from the icecream van. it looks like a scene straight out of a movie. this is exactly why i wanted to go to a campus-styled school. grass, grass, loads of grass! that was on my which-school-to-go-to checklist (:

took a nice, long walk to cannon park in the end to escape the chaotic buzz on campus. bingo. costas was a good place to get my first essay draft out. thank god for quiet coffee places. and iced lattes. and sugar packets. and chocolates.

two more essay drafts and a final essay to go.

happy birthday michelle

happy twenty-first my dearest dajie! i'm terribly sorry i won't be in singapore to celebrate your BIG two-one with you, but let's do a belated celebration when i get back for summer (: Though, i'm going to find it really hard to beat the celebration i had for you last year...

#1: Up the Singapore Flyer! Haha darn. If I'm not working at SPH I doubt I'll be getting any free tickets to anywhere.

#2: Our favourite activity: Eating buffets (and staying up till 5 hours) while catching up on each other's love lives (:

#3: Our second favourite activity: Camwhoring, anyplace. Anytime (: This is why this is a pictureful post in honour of our decadent camwhorage.

#4: My sweet nineteen! (: Haha we love celebrating birthdays together don't we? (:

#5: farewell at the airport :(

#6: And finally, you know I love you dajie! Happy twenty-first and wait for me to hurry get back and go gorge on buffets with you! (:

this little bubble of mayhem

"you know what i thought when i first saw you?"
"god, that woman wears a lot of pink?"

"my brain cells are dying from watching this!"

"wow sam, unlike the rest of us, you actually get wittier after watching the movie!"

Legally Blonde never fails to cheer me up. That, and having the girliest time getting my hair braided into a million different hairstyles for the pleasure of my 3 girlfriends and 1 guy three-and-a-half girlfriends. You know those barbie dolls which are specially designed for you to play with their hair? Their hair is really long and they come with two extra wigs for you to attach to barbie after you destroy the original hair. Well, I felt like one of them. Except I had no extra hair to replace those that have all fallen off in the tedious hair-braiding process.

Thought this would make a good blog header, except I have no time to fiddle with things like these right now. Just as I have no time to singlehandedly burst each bubble of mayhem floating inside my head.

the things girls do while shopping

#1: Take annoying photos with annoyingly pink striped sunglasses, while striking an annoying victory pose.

#2: Try on hideously bright heels in the two most bimbotic colours and take annoying photos again.

#3: Take a break from all the shopping and drink in the delicious taste of toffenut frappaccinno (yes i got it even when christmas season is over ladidum). You know that feeling you get when you bite into your first mouthful of thick gooey chocolate? Or the sense of satisfaction when you hear the pop sound as you burst a pod in a bubblewrap? That's how I feel when I take my first sip of toffeenut. Only ten times better.

On other note, we've signed our housing contract today (:

eight girls and a roller-coaster

haven't done a proper update for a while. days have been coming along fine. good news is, tort essay is done and dusted with. bad news? legal theory is completely baffling me. what topic am i doing again? pornography. yes, pornography. imagine walking around the library carrying five books whose title screams the p-word. not delightful enough? now imagine the next time someone uses my laptop and types the letter "p" into google. don't you just love the auto-history function?

fyi, typing pornography into google brings up very clean and decent websites. no kidding.

since i'm done with the tort essay, i guess its high time i do my long overdue update on the blackpool trip. blackpool was rather fun. though i must say the place made coventry look like a beautiful safe haven (blackpool was awfully dogdy especially since our group was made up of eight girls). but it was the company that mattered. good girly fun, with hilarious conversations that reminded me of the good old times cocooned inside the all-girls' school bubble.

#1: Our beautiful bed&breakfast, which had stunning rooms (two people to a room), ensuite bathrooms, free towels, and a tv in each room. This was also the place we lazed around the most, played shootshagmarry, exchanged love life stories and come to the conclusion that i will have to marry a guy who has perfect eyesight and loves rollercoasters.

#2: The beautiful view of the sea from our B&B. I forgot to mention how I snagged a double bed to sleep on after a game of rockpaperscissors with pk. Also, thank you pk for not snoring at all, you are such a dear (and yes, im an awfully light sleeper).

#3: A cute little girl we met while walking around to get to some civillization. I'm suddenly obssessed with taking photos of adorable kids. No, please don't say my maternal instincts are acting up, I am much too young. Haha.

#4: Still on our way to find civillization on day one. We came across palm-reading gypsies and Rachell went in to get her fortune told while the rest of us were content with just camwhoring outside.

#5: This was taken after shopping in the area of new-found civillization. I cannot believe we went all the way to blackpool to shop at the usual Primark and HMV. But girls will be girls. Our eyes will always light up at the sight of shops. And in the uk, the sight of cheap shops.

#6: Its been ages since I've actually seen the sea. That's what you get for being stuck right in the middle of the UK. I miss my tropical island and my rollerblading nights along east coast park. And the feel of the salty seabreeze! Soon, soon.

#7: The sea.

#8: This was where we went to have dinner on day one. It's a really long story. The place was awfully crowded so we ended up going next door to a thai restaurant for "starters" while waiting. Eight of us girls, but only three tiny bowls on tomyum soup were ordered. The staff there hated us. We paid an extra four pounds for nothing. But coming to Mamma's was a really good choice because the food was amazing.

#9: My amazing stuffed pasta

#10: We decided to gorge and order sinful dessert. Ended up being the last in the restaurant while they waited for us to leave before closing up. The walk back home made us realise how insensible it was for eight girls to walk out at night. Haha.

#11: The next morning! It started out as a cloudy day and we were hoping it didn't rain as forecasted. Because it was blackpool pleasure beach (the amusment park) day!

#12: Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The place was actually very nice compared to the whole of UK! A huge amusement park with plenty of rides and attractions for various ages.

#13: The scary rollercoasters. Here I would like to confess (though for some reason the whole world seems to know already! news travel fast!) that I am terribly afraid of rollercoasters and would 1) close my eyes on them and 2) hold my breath. Oh apparently I squeeze my partner's hand really really hard too. I'm sorry pk for the bruise! But yes, pk was an awesome rollercoaster buddy for letting me hold her hand and reminding me to breathe. So, I've accomplished the two goals set out before coming to blackpool: learning to breathe and keeping my eyes open :D

#14: This is Hilda my fellow scaredy-cat. But I did manage to take two more rides than her despite my endless cajoling that she must come along too (i hate being the only nervous one). Not that there is any proof of my taking the rides! I sat behind pk for one of them (hiding, obviously from the sight of heights) and when I survived the whole thing and skipped happily to the photo booth to look for myself? I wasn't in the photo. At all. It looked like pk took the ride alone. So much for hiding. And so much for some proof for the trauma suffered. Hmph.

#15: Hilda and I went on a photo-taking spree during some of the scariest rides. Hello beaver land! (the kiddy section of the park. haha)

#16: And this is the prettiest, loveliest photo ever. We saw it near the end of the day. A rainbow at the fountain ((((:

#17: The little boy who won an enormous Tigger (which I'm secretly very jealous of because I did try to win softtoys to no avail). I offered to Tigger-sit his toy while he went on a mouse ride. Haha (:

#18: And this was everybody at the end of the day (: Tired, but oh-so-happy :D

do you remember

the times spent sitting at one of those round coffeebean tables at the expo, facing the big glass panel, watching as the rain beat down against the glass. notes strewn across the table- ignored- as i marveled at the sky's tears. what about the airport days? facing another similar glass panel, konstantine plugged into my ear, as i watch the planes fly by. did i know then, that i was to fly on one of them and stumble into a land without my coffee tables and glass panels?

now, sitting at the arts centre, watching the rain through the glass doors, seems the closest i can get to a just tiny slice of the memories from a lifetime ago.

sweepy daze

i'm awfully sleepy and it looks as if grand plans to do my blackpool blog post has gone up in smoke! but blackpool was really good girly fun, and i enjoyed it immensely. will update everyone all about it tomorrow.

nevertheless, am glad to be back in warwick and happy that everyone's back today! had sinful gogochicken and noodles with chloe and constance before heading to my room for some karaoke party and watched confessions of a shopaholic. i must say, the movie sucked. oh what shame it has brought to my favourite chick lit :(

cupcakes! i just saw this exact same hummingbird bakery red velvet cupcakes on a person's blog and plurk and was just trying to recall how it tasted like. then guess what, my memory doesn't need to overwork itself after all (:

yummmm. it's heavenly as you sink your teeth into this creamy, soft cloud of sin.

tomorrow marks the start of a new week. my life is going back on track proper starting tomorrow. productivity levels are going up, essays will get done and any free time shall only be invested in exercise or sleep. yay.

goodnight.

fool's paradise

just got off skype with mum and she called me a rose with many thorns. yes, thorns. because my grumpy mood recently have resulted in me being less friendly and less chirpy than i usually am. i dont like it when i enter one of these phases, and im trying to get out of it. but i dont think i can until this essay is done and dusted. shucks.

on a brighter note, april fools was good fun. tricked a couple of people three times each. so much for once bitten, twice shy. ha.

since im in such a terrible mood lately, and the exams are looming ahead. i have decided to shut this blog down. goodbye world.

okay i lied. happy april fools.
